We are so excited to be highlighting our partnership with Common Threads this summer! We wanted to share more about this organization with you so you can see all the wonderful things they are doing in Chicago.

Founded in 2003, Common Threads was created to bring health and wellness to children, families and communities through cooking and nutrition education. By integrating preventative health programs into school districts and community organizations, Common Threads not only helps combat the rising number of diet-related diseases, but also cultivates a culture that embraces a healthier lifestyle and celebrates diversity through food.

Their overall vision is to create a community of learners that embraces healthy cooking, healthy eating and healthy living as both a life choice and a human right. Because we value bringing health to all communities in Chicago, Kitchfix will be matching up to $1,000 of all customer’s donations to Common Threads during the month of July! We fully support Common Thread’s vision, but additionally, Common Threads holds an even larger significance to Kitchfix's founder and CEO, Chef Josh Katt. Josh used to teach as a chef instructor for Common Threads about 10 years ago. After asking him what this experience meant to him he replied:

“One of the coolest things I experienced from being a chef instructor was that after exposing the kids to new and healthy foods, they became more adventurous. By sharing new flavors from around the world with them, they were more willing to not only try healthy options, but also better differentiate healthy from non-healthy. Experimenting with dishes from different countries was a way for them to experience how different and similar other cultures were from their own. It really broadened their horizons."

With being a father to 3 year old son (and with one on the way!), Josh knows the importance of starting healthy eating at a young age. He says, "Realistically, the first step to eating healthier is simply tasting the food and realizing how good healthy food tastes. You could really see the difference an 8-week session made on these kids. It was super fun to get to know them and see them grow and change.”

Donate via our menu and 100% of proceeds go to Common Threads! Kitchfix will match up to $1,000 in donations.
